MARINARA SAUCE

This delicious sauce is a summer fav of ours!
Ingredients:
1 28 oz can whole San Marzano tomatoes
1/2 onion chopped
9-10 garlic cloves chopped
1/4-1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
1 sprig of fresh basil
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
red pepper flakes (optional)

How to make:
- Pour tomatoes into a large bowl and crush with your hands
- Heat olive oil In a large skillet over a medium heat
- Sauté onions until golden and translucent
- Add and sauté garlic (do not brown)
- Add red pepper flakes
- Add crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper. Stir
- Add basil
- Simmer sauce for 30-40 min until thickened. (Add a 1/4 cup of water if too thick while cooking)
- Discard basil
- Serve over your favorite pasta
